These lenses lighten and darken depending on the amount of Ultraviolet Light exposure. Inside and under lower UV conditions they are pale grey as shown in the photo. Outside they become a darker grey shade according to the amount of UV light. Note even under strong UV conditions they do not get as dark as a regular sunglass tint (such as the polarized lenses) but are convenient for changing light conditions and especially if you do not require a dark lens for daytime use.
